Antique Grandfather Clock 8-day antique refurbished longcase grandfather clock. Circa 1765 -Lovely looking Longcase clock nice proportioned clock with eight day duration which strikes each hour on a cast bell . The case made of lovley figured Walnut with the trunk door having a shaped top and beautiful figuring with and locking door with key. The hood with nice turned columns complete with brass capitals top and bottom with a flat top with nice detail and
Romanesque cornice top design, complete with a nice brass finial. The clock standing 89.00inches high that’s the cornice on the hood including the final which can be removed,with a width of 22.00inches at the widest part, with the trunk width being just 13.00inches wide is a very nice proportioned clock The 5 pillar very well made movement has recently had a complete strip down clean and oiled with new gut lines, the case been restored to bring it back to it’s former glory all is in good working order and ready to display in the home ,and requires no further restoration . The associated fantastic brass and silvered dial is in excellent condition, with John Dixon engraved at the bottom of the chapter ring ( DIXON, John (~1653-? son of Nicholas DIXON of Saffron Walden, shoemaker app to John SCOLTOCK 1667 via the Haberdashers’ Company, free of them 1674. Described as ofShoe Lane, clockmaker when took app Thomas HOWCRAFT in 1705 via the Haberdashers’ Company ). the dial together fitted with nice period hands dial and movement earlier around 1730. Complete with 2 brass cased weights pendulum and winding crank key. All in all a lovely period Longcase clock which would grace any home. You can view this clock and others by prior arrangement.
