Longcase Automaton Longcase Grandfather Clock Lovely looking comanding Longcase clock circa 1785 eight day duration which strikes each hour on a cast bell . The case made of good quality mahogany with the shaped trunk door having beautiful figuring and double line inlay as well as the corners of the plinth is a very nice feature. The trunk with nice reeded pillars detail , the case with locking door and key, the door has a slight bow but not really noticeable, the swan neck hood with nice turned reeded columns makes it a fine clock . The clock standing 91.05 inches high including the final which can be removed with a width of 21.00inches at the widest part .The movement has recently had a strip down clean and oiled with new gut lines, the case has been restored to bring it back to it’s former glory and is in good working order and ready to display in the home ,and requires no further restoration . The white arch painted dial featuring the working Adam and Eve automaton is very rare and very well painted with seconds dial and Calender fitted with nice period hands. With J KT Scott John Scott (J.K.T. Scott was a Scottish clockmaker, based in Edinburgh, known for his work in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Several clockmakers with variations of the name John Scott existed, including one in Edinburgh who made a clock for the Prince of Wales) painted on the face Complete with 2 weights pendulum and winding crank key. The clock standing 91.05 inches high including the final which can be removed with a width of 21.05 inches at the widest part .The movement has recently had a strip down clean and oiled with new gut lines, the case has been restored to bring it back to it’s former glory and is in good working order and ready to display in the home ,and requires no further restoration . The white arch painted dial featuring the working rolling moon seconds dial and unusual center Calender with Peter Fearnley Wigan painted on the dial noted as a very good clockmaker ( Peter Fearnley was born in 1749 and was married in 1776. Known particularly as a maker of longcase clocks, he died in 1826 ) fitted with nice period hands. Complete with 2 weights pendulum and winding crank key.
